The Beginning of a Season

Posted on 20/09/2009 11:44 - 3 Comments

I'm now officially a IST Tagus LEIC freshman!! I'm so excited about this new step in my life! No more boring subjects like Philosophy or Portuguese (or atleast I hope so) and an awesome schedule (8:30-13:30) definitely contribute to an healthy study environment :D

This first week (starting tomorrow) will be the freshmans' week so I suspect I shall be pretty tired by the end of it...

Oh and the driving lessons are going well! I've already made the the theoretical exam and I have only 14 lessons lessons left till I can make the practical one. In no time I'll be stealing my mother's car and take it around for a spin. Atleast until I can afford my own one :P

I'll be keeping you guys updated and I'm looking forward to writing another tutorial! Just don't really know about what. If you have any suggestions please say so (preferably C++ or PHP since these are the languages I've been doing the most work with).

The End of a Season

Posted on 11/07/2009 00:11 - 3 Comments

It is now official! After some agonizing weeks of intense study, I have completed the 12th grade, the end of high school, with an average of 195/200 (pretty proud of myself :D).

In order to achieve that I had to undertake a series of 3 national exams (Maths, Portuguese and Geometry). Most went quite well and I had great expectations which were indeed accurate, atleast concerning Maths (an awesome 200/200) and Geometry (196/200). The classification of the Portuguese exam struck me as rather surprising since I hadn't found any major complications or difficulties during the exam. I got 143/200 but nothing to worry about since this is not one of the master subjects of Information Systems and Computer Engineering, the course I pretend to attend in University (IST Taguspark).

Oh and it is my birthday today (11th July) so I guess HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! :D

Data Loss & Recent Events

Posted on 12/05/2009 19:41 - 0 Comments

After some months of inactivity, it is with great regret that my first post is about a recent problem with my hosting. Due to some kind of problem with the server upgrade or due to some malicious user, I (and probably many of you) was greeted with a blank page while trying to access this very site.

Later on, I came to find that all my FTP had been erased. Luckily, I had a 'recent' backup of all the coding (though not all the files) so please bear with me while I try to restablish the order here ;)

Xmas Holidays

Posted on 23/01/2009 19:20 - 0 Comments

As usual, when we enjoy ourselves time flies. I can't believe my 2 (and a half) weeks of holidays are already over. Guess I shouldn't complain though since some didn't even have holidays :P

So as I had said in my previous post, I stayed in Brasil with my father, his wife and my 2 brothers.
I spent the first week in Porto Alegre where it was almost hard to breathe due to the wet but hot weather in that region. Did some sightseeing, attended the 'End of School Year' event at my brothers' school, met lots of cool people and paid a visit to the main wine production region of Rio Grande do Sul, hidden between the mountains and surrounded by immense forests.

Xmas Holidays

Posted on 12/12/2008 16:02 - 0 Comments

First of all let me start by apologizing for my lack of posts. I've been quite busy with school projects and exams and ended up neglecting my site a little bit.

I'll be heading to Brazil tomorrow, where I'll be staying with my dad and brothers for the following three weeks. Therefore I might take a little longer to reply to your emails or comments.

As for what happened since my last post, my mom got really sick (but is better now); someone flatted three tires of my mother's car and I found out I'll be developing a platform game as a school project (great opportunity to test my game engine :P). Oh and I'm going to be an uncle again!

And that's about it... Therefore I have nothing left to say but to wish you all a merry Christmas and I hope this new year of 2009 will bring you plenty of happiness and success ;)

Back to School & Future

Posted on 23/09/2008 18:05 - 0 Comments

To whom it may concern I'm back in school so I might not be as available as before. In fact, school has started on the 10th of September but only today did I remember to post a new item on my blog. I guess I'm becoming lazy :D

Nothing really new though: same school, most teachers are the same and no new colleagues. The only thing that changed was the subjects. No more Philosophy! (yey :D) nor English (though I'll continue studying at the British Council on Saturdays) and Physics/Chemistry was replaced by pure Physics (another yey here :P).

Holidays - 2 weeks

Posted on 08/08/2008 13:10 - 2 Comments

Today I'll be going to Algarve for 2 weeks so I'll be unable to reply to any emails/comments.

I'll be staying in Vilamoura at my dad's house. I hope I can get a decent tan and I'll try to enjoy myself as best as I can since I'll probably remove the remaining 2 wisdom teeth on September :S

Cya in 2 weeks time!

Birthday

Posted on 12/07/2008 13:03 - 4 Comments

Yesterday was my birthday! I'm now 17 and only one more year to go until I'll be allowed to drive :D

Spent most of the day with my best friend and then had a family dinner with my sisters, nephews, mother and some other people :P

I received some money, 3 t-shirts and the latest 'Wilt' book. If you haven't read any of the Wilt books by Tom Sharpe yet I highly reccomend them! They are hilarious :)

Exam Results

Posted on 09/07/2008 20:03 - 0 Comments

Monday the Physics/Chemistry exam results were finally made available and I had a 19.7 (in 20). I'm quite pleased with myself but I could have had 20 if it weren't for the corrector's mistake (didn't accept J/kg/ºC when it is as valid as J kg-1 ºC-1).

I could try and appeal but I'd risk losing 0.7 marks due to an implicit reference in one of the text responses so I decided to let it be.

For those of you who'd like to know more about website programming I'm writing a 'small' guide which will highlight the steps one should take in order to develop a well-constrcuted website.

Finally, Holidays!

Posted on 21/06/2008 23:06 - 0 Comments

After a busy school year with lots of work and studying, the summer vacations have finally come!

Yesterday I have finished my final exam (nation-wide Chemistry/Physics exam) and it went very well! I've checked the correction criteria and am expecting something along the lines of 19-20.
